Visit of John Bell 12th May 2018 in the United Reformed Church, Durham City.
We are raising funds for the Iona Abbey Capital Appeal. The next Northumbria Plenary meeting of the Iona Community will be on Saturday 12th May 2018 in the United Reformed Church, Durham where our guest speaker will be John Bell. John is a preacher, hymn writer, composer, lecturer and broadcaster. He is an ordained minister of the Church of Scotland and a member of the Iona Community. John has produced many collections of liturgy, scripts, sermons and reflections, original hymns and songs, and is primarily concerned with the renewal of congregational worship at grassroots level. There will be worship, discussion, singing and socialising. A sandwich lunch will be provided for which we request a money donation. The charge for this day will be £10. We will start at 10 am and finish at about 4pm when there will be a retiring collection. John will be preaching in the morning and leading a music session in the afternoon. Free child care will be available. Partners, friends and members of your church will also be very welcome -
